About Debbie
I'm a freelance artist and illustrator living and working in Edinburgh, Scotland, with my lovely, long-suffering partner and pair of ninja cats, Bunty and Rogue. When I'm not painting I specialize in supporting people living with disabilities into employment, volunteering or education for a small charity.
I graduated in Visual Communication at the Edinburgh College of Art in 2003, a long-held dream ever since displaying my portfolio to a slightly bemused-looking Rolf Harris at the tender age of five. I use a range of different media: much of the paintings on this site encompass both traditional oils and Indian ink as well as bog standard emulsion from the DIY store. Printmaking techniques are mainly in the form of relief printing, such as Japanese woodcuts, lino, vinyl, collography and drypoint. My inspirations are a bit all over the place: dodgy sailor tattoos, abandoned places, ugly 60s architecture, Mondo posters, grand old frigates, comics, anthropomorphised animals and elaborately decorated ossuaries. Artists I admire include Ken Taylor, Kozyandan, Lora Zombie, Aaron Horkey, Dave McKean and Hiroshige.
I have provided illustrations for events including the Edinburgh and Cardiff International Science Festivals and had paintings displayed at Edinburgh's Fine Art Gallery, the Abbeyhill Colony of Artists Exhibition and, most glamorously, the Regent Pub in Edinburgh (a fine place for real ale, scrabble and a packet of scampie fries!) I recently provided the artwork for Pandacetamol's album Agoraphobia. I've recently branched out into childrens' wall murals, for more details click here.
Pricing
Prints of my paintings are priced as follows:
£6 for 4" x 6" mounted print, or 2 for £10
£10 for 6" x 8" mounted print, or 2 for £16
I am happy to negotiate prices on all original artwork and can complete commissions to any budget.
If you wish to discuss any projects you have, would like to commission a painting or simply just to have a wee chinwag, please contact me via the following:
